Go Smart! Go Open Source!

Filed under: Software — Guus @ 10:06 am

Today I installed 2 open source tools: SmartCVS and SmartSynchronize. SmartCVS is an innovative CVS client that replaced my old winCVS.

SmartSynchronize is a file/directory compare and merge tool. It can help you, for example, to synchronize two directories. Very useful , it replaced a commercial product: Araxis Merge

Major Features of SmartSynchronize 1.5

* works on Windows, Linux, Mac OS X, OS/2 and other Java 1.4.1-supporting platforms,
* very easy to use,
* file compare with possibility to edit and merge,
* file compare with detection of inner-line changes,
* directory compare with ability to synchronize changes,
* configuration of ignored files and directories,
* ability to store and reopen profiles (directory-pairs)

There is also a nice flashmovie demo of SmartSynchronize.
