No IE7 with Automatic Updates

Filed under: Software — Guus @ 8:21 am

Soon the new MS browser will be available. The rollout is mainly done by Microsoft via their Automatic Updates tool. You probably don’t want it directly, since some sites will have some problems with it (remember browserchecks?)…
To prevent the push of IE7 automatic, just make this registry change.

1. Start regedit.exe

2. Create the following key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Setup\7.0

3. Click the Edit menu and select New and then DWORD value.

4. Name this new DWORD: DoNotAllowIE70

5. Set the value of this DWORD to a value of 1.
